Seat Belts.........
This really baffles me........
An average of 11 people are killed daily in road accidents across Nigeria in 2012,official statistics from the Federal Road Safety Corps show.
In the 2012 official report titled "DASHBOARD RECORDS FOR THE MONTHS OF 2012" and made available to PREMIUM TIMES, the corps said a total of 4,260 people were killed in accidents across the country in 2012 .
Thousands of lives are saved each year through the use of seat belts....yet you have to plea with drivers to put them on....
Now i'm moving on to you occupying the passengers seat, you still would not wear one.
Even on the plane, you scheduled for a flight and you have your 2-point lap belt to put on ....yet the hostesses have to remind some passengers personally even after the blaring instructions from the microphone..........haba!!!!
In Nigeria, commercial bus drivers do not put on their seat belts because they think it could save their lives in the event of an accident ..... rather they do so for fear of the LASTMA Officials... Na Wa Oh!! The fear of #25,ooo fine is definitely the beginning of wisdom....
The white man that made the car you driving has carried out series of Crash tests to find safety issues and test solutions to make cars safer and reduce injuries and deaths from car accidents....
We are yet to start manufacturing our own cars so why don't we just obey simple driving instructions......
Crash test dummies are used to gather information about the damage that can result from the extreme forces exerted on a body during a violent impact.
Most people are becoming more aware of the need to have their seat belts on........... Thank God!!
Thanks to our teachers as even children from the ages of 6 and above understand the importance of using a seat belt while driving that they tend to correct the adult seating in the passengers side of the car..... haba!!
'Uncle could you please put on your seat belts' ..........such immaculate voice you can't resist ....you tend to have no other choice but to obey.....
This is my opinion .....do your best in adhering to safe driving instructions by using your seat belts and driving at a minimal speed....
Drive safe through the weekend! Remember Safety First!!
