Noise Pollutions.....Are Nigerians going deaf?........

Over the weekend i blogged about hearing loss in children,I enjoyed every minute I spent putting up that article. Now this pertains to the adults and my question is ...Are Nigerians deaf? 

Everyday of our live we experience various forms of noise. This experience differs among individuals depending on the exposure. Irrespective of this,everyone experiences some kind of noise pollution,one way or another.......

These noise range from the blaring sound from the preachers public address system, men/women associated with a particular group dancing through streets each holding a microphone and singing in uncoordinated voices distributing flyers, the young man selling musicals CD's at  the bus-stops to the loud neighbor or bus driver who never turns down the volume of his stereo....wooh! 

Loud noise at home or work can damage your hearing. This is a fact! Most Nigerians have lost their hearing due to the cumulative effect of noise.  It usually happens gradually  and it may only be when the damage has been done combined with hearing loss due to aging,that people then realize how impaired their hearing had become.
Nigerians seem to have gotten used to every form of noise! How do you explain the persistent plea to the car owner to turn up the volume of a stereo that's loud enough for everyone to hear? or the generator noise that blares even past midnight! On several occasion ,i have had to place a pillow over my head to ward off the noise,..... it still doesn't help. Haba!!

This is beginning to affect the kids too...! Even the musical artists have now come to realize that only a noisy album would sell in Nigeria...!So they give us loud noisy music with no sensible lyrics.......!

 What can be done to curb this menace? Are Nigerians actually going deaf? Would the season of noise pollution in Nigeria ever come to an end?

 I really wonder?..*smh*
