The birth of a child comes with the best feelings ever.. A considerable amount of women yearn for the pangs of childbirth while others would gladly opt for a C-sections... For most women, this feeling spurs from various factors but for some, their choice of a c-section is mainly due to the presumed expansion of the vagina walls which makes sex with their partners lack that enjoyable penetrative effect....

I'm sure you all know that every time you have a C-section, the procedure is always more complicated than the last and after 3 cesarean sections, it is termed risky to undergo a vaginal delivery. These complications arise due to the bands of scar-like tissue which arises after each abdominal surgery and their formation varies from one c-section to another...
I have always wondered what the post -delivery healing process would be like as I hear it differs greatly from the healing process of a normal delivery..
C-sections are very delicate surgical procedures so even though they offer some sort of convenience for some women, the risk involved can not be overemphasized. Complications that may arise include heavy bleeding which could be caused by the deep attachment of the placenta to the uterus, infections, blot clot in the legs or lungs and in some cases bowel problems and so the intake of fiber-rich foods like fruits and vegetables is highly recommended. Other factors that may arise after an abdominal surgery is the back up of gases within you so whenever you feel the need to let out gas... Do it gladly!
Great care for the incisions should be maintained after the surgery because ignoring the incision and not taking proper care of it could be fatal. Clean the incisions daily to avoid any form of infection.
One of the major factors bordering around the c-section recovery is the flattening of the tummy muscles.. How to achieve this feat is usually foremost on the minds of most women who have undergone this procedure but first it is important to note that the first six weeks after a C- section is a time for healing and the need to stay away from any strenuous activity including exercises that put a strain on you cannot be over emphasized, however it is recommended that you begin practicing your pelvic exercises immediately you feel up to it and as time goes on you gradually increasing your activities by taking short walks at a pace that suits you and extending the exercise time slowly.
Getting to walk around after the surgery is highly recommended as it helps prevent blood clogs, it speeds up your bowel recovery and boosts your comfort level but this should be done at the patients pace.
It's imperative that you don't wait till you have had all your kids before pushing your body back in shape, begin immediately you get a pass from your doctor that it's safe to do so after the birth of each baby.
Within months, you may begin aerobic exercises that work your hearts and lungs as these will help you shed off the baby weight but please note that in beginning these routines you must have fully recovered.Below is a simple routine you could perform after recovery:
- Lie on your back and bend your knees then slightly squeeze in your pelvic floor muscles as you breathe out.
- While still maintaining the position highlighted above, you slowly push in your belly button in a bid to flatten the belly ..in and out and when you feel able to, you may try to hold in the squeeze for like 10 sec and repeat this routine as many times as possible.
Always remember that persistence is Key so staying determined to your routines would always yield the expected results.
