What do I need to know about Fura de nunu.........

Fura de nunu is a local drink derived from fresh cow milk. It is popular in the northern part of Nigeria and a choice brand for most people.
I've seen quiet a couple of people enjoy this drink but the question is this..How safe is it drinking raw milk from he teats of dairy cows? Is it healthy eating local milk dishes such as fura de nunu which is popularly served in many parts of the country with herdsmen?
Let us not forget that fura de nunu  is made from unpasteurized milk. Is it healthy to indulge then? the answer is a clear NO!

Let us take our minds through the entire milking process...During the milking of a cow, the animal sometimes gets irritated and then begins to use its legs to raise dust and dirt..,all these in one way or another find their way back into the bowl of milk. How about considering the fact that as cows graze the fields, they are likely to come in contact with some bacteria and fungi that cling to their body (the teats are not left out) and during milking process no special care is taken to clean up the teats first and even if some cleaning takes place, how well is this carried out? all of these find their way back to the milk.

The personal hygiene of the dairy farmer is also a major cause for concern. For those who justify the health benefits of fura de nunu, the need to answer this question personally is key! How many cows are regularly seen by a veterinarian to ensure they are vaccinated and in good health?

All the germs that a can of dairy milk could contain have to be neutralized by pasteurization. So those who consume this local drink have a lot of questions to ask themselves. Most times people contact diseases that they cannot trace back to the fura they consumed earlier.

What role does the government have to play in this? People die daily and some of them ain't lucky enough to know the causative factor leading to the illness.

In Living Healthy, we must be careful of what we eat or drink so as not to expose ourselves to serious health hazards due to possible contamination with disease causing germs...

Where do you stand in all of this?....Make a resolve today! ensure you consume pasteurized milk only...
