Could constant inhalation of environmental toxins be linked to Congenital Heart Disease in Children?
Congenital heart diseases develop when the heart or blood vessels close to the heart do not develop normally during birth. Presently there are ongoing researches which seeks to ascertain if these toxic discharged into the air could affect the foetus of a pregnant woman at close proximity.... Personally I would think positive of this theory been brought forward as the high levels of carbon monoxide and industrial emissions in the atmosphere is alarming. In my opinion virtually all commercial vehicles in Lagos state should be banned from using our roads. The heavy duty trucks are not left out of this. Days back I was riding with a colleague home from work and we found ourselves alongside a heavy duty truck....even with the glasses wound up I could barely breathe.. A very horrible experience. Why then would the poor foetus of a pregnant lady residing in Nigeria not be affected? Recently in Canada, the level of congenital heart defects rates gradually decreased...
